We want to create a community of creative thinkers, actors, writers and directors. We want to connect acting classes with the development of new writing while fostering a connection to our rich dramatic history.

Meisner Classes

Meisner sessions start next week on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. This will be a space for understanding the basic concepts and practice of the Meisner technique. We will incorporate a physical and vocal warm-up, with a focus on the craft and purpose of Meisner’s work.

Each week, we will explore a different classical poem. In advanced groups, we will move towards the performance of great speeches and scenes from William Shakespeare’s canon. The aim is to film this work and produce tangible output from the development taking place in the class.

As the weeks progress, we will incorporate key concepts from Stanislavski, Adler, Hagen, Strasberg, and many other practitioners, using Meisner as our grounding methodology.

Sessions begin at 7pm and run until 10pm.
Sessions cost £20. £5 discount for parents.

Writing Course with Oliver Bennett

Award-winning playwright and The Base Creates co-founder Oliver Bennett will be launching a 6 week writing course. A select group will meet for six sessions and explore together the art of playwrighting. They will study scene structure, character, plot and style, taking inspiration from classic and modern dramatists. Professional actors will be brought in and the course will culminate in an internal showing of our work-in-progress.
